Summary/objective:
Angel Studios is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join the Platform team. This role is integral to ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and reliable. You will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems. You will work closely with our development teams to automate processes, deploy infrastructure, and manage cloud environments using AWS.
Key Responsibilities:
  • DevOps Practices: Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes using tools such as Terraform, or similar. Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines and streamline code deployment. Leverage AI-powered tools to improve deployment workflows, incident analysis, and operational efficiency.
  • AWS Cloud Management & Optimization: Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure AWS infrastructure. Optimize AWS resource usage and cost through effective monitoring and management. Implement security best practices for cloud-based environments. Evaluate and implement AI-driven cloud optimization or observability tooling where appropriate.
  • System Reliability & Performance: Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure high availability and performance of applications. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues in production environments. Contribute to and execute incident response and disaster recovery plans. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks using scripting or AI agents.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of new features and services. Participate in on-call rotations and provide support for incident management. Document processes, configurations, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.

Qualifications:
  • Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and ElastiCache.
  • Strong background in using automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes and Docker containerization
  • Demonstrable experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or some other deployment pipeline.
  • Hands-on experience with DNS management, TLS certificates, cloud networking, CDN.
  • Understanding of observability platforms and reliability engineering principles.
  • Exposure to LLM APIs, AI agents, or ML infrastructure is a strong plus.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Required education and experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Kubernetes experience
  • AWS experience
  • Experience with the Angel Guild
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools to improve engineering or operational workflows
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs, AI agents, or modern automation tooling (preferred)

Work environment - When in the main office, expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy.
Physical demands - Will need to be able to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time.
Position type and expected hours of work - Regular full-time, 40 hours per week.
Travel required - No out of state travel anticipated at this time.
Work authorization - Must be authorized to work in the United States.
