Systems Engineer, Operations System Responsibility Engineer
Location: Las Cruces
Level: Mid to Senior
Schedule: 2nd and / or 3rd shift supporting 24/7 site operations
DPG Solutions is seeking a mid to senior level Systems Engineer to support 24/7 mission operations in Dulles, VA. This position supports operational systems that require high availability, disciplined troubleshooting, clear communication, and strong technical ownership.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting complex systems in secure DoD, IC, or space related environments and is comfortable working non standard shifts. This role requires someone who can identify issues quickly, understand operational impact, coordinate across teams, and help keep mission systems stable and available.
Responsibilities
• Support 2nd and / or 3rd shift operations for a 24/7 mission environment
• Act as a System Responsibility Engineer for assigned operational systems
• Monitor operational systems for health, performance, and availability
• Troubleshoot technical issues across systems, applications, infrastructure, and networks
• Coordinate with mission operations, engineering, cybersecurity, and customer stakeholders
• Support incident response, anomaly resolution, and root cause analysis
• Document operational issues, shift activity, system status, and corrective actions
• Support configuration management, maintenance windows, testing, and system upgrades
• Identify operational risks and recommend improvements to reliability and supportability
• Maintain a clear understanding of system dependencies and mission impact
Required Qualifications
• Mid to senior level experience in systems engineering, operations engineering, or mission systems support
• Experience supporting secure, high availability systems in an operational environment
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux, Windows, network, infrastructure, or application layers
• Ability to work 2nd and / or 3rd shift as part of a 24/7 support model
• Experience with operational monitoring, ticketing, incident escalation, and technical documentation
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical teams, mission users, and program leadership
• Active TS/SCI clearance preferred
Desired Qualifications
• Experience supporting IC, DoD, space, ground systems, or mission operations environments
• Prior experience as an Operations System Responsibility Engineer, Mission Systems Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or Systems Administrator
• Familiarity with operational tools such as Splunk, Grafana, SolarWinds, Nagios, ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools
• Experience supporting RMF, STIG compliance, secure baselines, or classified system operations
• Scripting or automation experience with Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Ansible
• Experience supporting system readiness, change control, and operational acceptance activities
• Ability to support fast moving operational priorities with limited supervision
