Job description

Position Overview:
This role is a part of the Verra Command Center team or VCC, which is responsible for remote technical support and oversight of roadside monitoring and enforcement implementations across the United States and parts of Canada. VCC is a 24-hour 7 day a week operation that works to ensure enforcement sites are up, operating, and working for our government clients. We work to provide fast and reliable troubleshooting and monitoring for all devices that fall into our scope.

The Operations Engineer is a key member of the Verra Command Center (VCC) engineering team, focused on building, integrating, automating, and supporting platforms that ensure the reliability, scalability, and operational stability of roadside operations and supporting IT infrastructure. This role emphasizes system integrations, platform development, infrastructure administration, and advanced scripting to reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, and maintain high system availability.

The Operations Engineer partners closely with Operations Technicians, VCC Technical Leadership, Infrastructure teams, and other Verra Engineering groups to ensure seamless integration between engineering solutions, enterprise IT systems, and day-to-day operations. This position plays a critical role in enabling the VCC to achieve service excellence by developing automation, enhancing monitoring capabilities, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and ensuring roadside products, servers, and supporting platforms operate at peak performance.

  • Windows Server & Infrastructure Administration: Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, including server performance, system services, patching, Active Directory integrations, Group Policy management, and infrastructure reliability. Support virtualization platforms and enterprise infrastructure components as needed.
  • IT Systems Troubleshooting & Support:Perform advanced troubleshooting across servers, applications, databases, networking, storage, and enterprise systems to identify root causes and restore service quickly. Support escalated operational and infrastructure incidents in a 24x7x365 environment.
  • Collaboration with Operations Teams: Work closely with Operations Technicians and Supervisors to understand frontline needs, translating them into scalable engineering solutions that improve uptime and service quality.
  • Platform Reliability: Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic tools that ensure roadside equipment and supporting platforms run at peak efficiency.
  • Project Engineering: Lead and contribute to engineering initiatives, including platform rollouts, API integrations, and system upgrades, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and aligned with business goals.
  • Service Excellence: Ensure engineering solutions support SLA compliance and help operations teams deliver consistent, high-quality service.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improved efficiency in system monitoring, incident resolution, and configuration management; design and implement solutions that scale.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop detailed documentation, runbooks, and training materials to ensure engineering solutions can be adopted and maintained effectively by operations teams.
  • Cross-Team Participation: Engage in agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning) to align engineering deliverables with operational needs and company objectives.
  • Incident Support & Escalation: Provide advanced technical support for complex incidents, collaborating with operations teams to resolve issues quickly and permanently

Qualifications:
