Position Summary

The Operations Specialist (Dispatcher) is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and dispatching of customer freight, maintaining strong communication with clients and drivers, and ensuring timely, safe, and efficient delivery of shipments. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


Responsibilities & Essential Functions


Primary

Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams under any conditions.
Schedule drivers for freight deliveries or pickups in alignment with customer needs.
Provide customers with accurate details regarding freight, delivery/pickup times, and special handling requests.
Receive, update, and process delivery orders, including changes to location or appointment times.
Plan and adjust routes as necessary based on operational needs or traffic conditions.
Maintain records of dispatched calls, driver assignments, route changes, and delivery/pickup times.
Monitor fleet location via ELD tracking systems; conduct driver check-ins as needed.
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, recording all relevant information.
Track vessel discharge schedules and container availability.
Manage daily delivery schedules based on load capacity.
Create inbound/outbound PINs for port transactions, including container ingate/outgate.
Manage operational assets including trucks, chassis, and containers.
Assist drivers with on-road issues related to trucks or chassis.


Secondary

Prepare and collect EIR tickets.
Generate and maintain daily safety monitoring reports.
Prepare settlement reports and collect settlement sheets.
Monitor driver attendance and performance.
Calculate driver detention charges for port congestion or roadside service.
Coordinate with accounting for invoices and chassis fees; prepare invoices for owner-operators.
Arrange backhaul pickups.
Update export container details including seal numbers, booking numbers, cut-off times, and early return dates.


Job Qualifications & Requirements

  • HS Diploma/G.E.D. required; Bachelors preferred.
  • 1-2 years combined related experience.
  • Solid Excel and accounting system skills; high accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Clear, professional communication; customer-service mindset with urgency and follow-through.


Work Schedule and Location

  • Standard workweek: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • Occasional after-hours/on-call support as required.
  • Primary work location is Savannah, GA.
