Security Controller

Job Description Summary

The position of Security Controller is responsible for the direction and documentation of all guard activities throughout their given shift. As well, they are charged with the monitoring of and response to all security department related systems.

Job Description

Key Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:


1. Direct day to day security operations within the complex.
2. Document day to day operations within the complex.
3. Monitor the complex CCTV, access control and, life safety system.
4. Ensure all departments are apprised of all incidents and/or major equipment failures within the complex.
5. Respond to calls for service from tenants, visitors, and other departments via phone, email and/or work order.
6. Action access control scheduling changes as requested by tenants. Maintain all control centre administration.
7. Respond to calls from intercoms, duress stations, and elevator help phones.
8. Where required, act as the on-duty Supervisor.
9. Any other secondary duty(s) as dictated by operational necessity.


Minimum Requirements:


Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant (preferably commercial) setting, in positions of increasing responsibility.
Working knowledge of MS Office applications
Working knowledge of security systems (access control, CCTV, fire protection, incident reporting)

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Strong customer service orientation
Demonstrated relationship building skills
Self-motivated and diplomatic
Working knowledge of all applicable Health & Safety Legislation
Working knowledge of Life Safety Protocols and Emergency Response Procedures in a vertical structure; including, but not limited to, emergency evacuation.
Highly developed organizational and time management skills
Prior experience in a supervisory role


The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate's experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
