Job description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Branch Controller within our finance team to help support our bedding  business.  Did you know we have been revolutionizing the sleep industry since 1883?  That’s right!  In fact, we hold the original patent on a spiral steel coil bed spring, filed way back in 1885.  Since then, we have been an industry leader in guaranteeing you get the best sleep possible.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As a Branch Controller you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the completeness and accuracy of month end closing and other accounting functions. You will also be heavily engaged in a variety of operational and cross-functional discussions to drive the business to greater results.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by supporting the financial functions for our locations in Carthage, MO and Winchester, KY.  The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought. 

So, what will you be doing as a Branch Controller?

  • Collaborate across Bedding Segment to maintain consistent business processes
  • Review and verify accuracy of financial statements
  • Maintain compliance with policy and procedures and assist with Internal Audit visits/requests
  • Manage and complete the month-end close process
  • Develop relationships with Branch personnel to provide support and information sharing on a regular basis as appropriate
  • Fulfill requests of Corporate Departments (Accounting, Tax, Risk, Credit, etc.)
  • Complete/oversee costing of inventory

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preference in manufacturing
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Understanding of Cost Accounting and methodologies
  • A self-starter with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate key data and insight to others within the Branch and Bedding organization
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to convert data to information
  • High degree of professionalism and ethical standards
