ABOUT THE ROLE

The Branch Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all operations of a designated branch. This role includes maximizing customer satisfaction, revenue, growth, and profitability through the effective management of client relationships, employee development, branch budgeting, resource allocation, and execution of corporate goals. In some cases, the Branch Manager may also perform certain key Account Manager functions for a select group of clients (as needed or assigned by the President) while still fulfilling overall branch management duties.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Management Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, manage, and supervise a branch team of approximately 50 individuals, overseeing annual branch revenue of $3.5M–$7M.
  • Directly supervise assigned Account Managers and Operations Managers.
  • Maintain a retention rate above 90% for direct reports and foremen.
  • Collaborate with the HR/Recruiting Manager to fill positions resulting from growth or attrition.
  • Foster a positive team environment by staying present, engaged, and aware of team morale.
  • Develop and implement employee recognition programs (e.g., gift cards, BBQ events, or other incentives).
  • Coordinate with the HR Manager and Operations Managers to conduct weekly safety and training sessions.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports (Account Managers, Operations Managers).
  • Ensure semi-annual one-on-one meetings are held by Operations Managers for Foremen and Crew Members.
  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for all direct reports.
  • Approve weekly payroll in collaboration with the Controller.


Sales & Client Management Sales Goals & Tracking

  • Work with the President to set annual sales goals for Maintenance, Enhancement, Construction, and Snow divisions.
  • Track and review progress on sales goals through weekly sales meetings and one-on-one reviews with Account Managers.
  • Maintain and improve client retention rate of 90% or higher.


Business Development

  • Attend meetings with VIP clients and prospects to strengthen relationships and drive new business.
  • Conduct annual client surveys and respond to feedback accordingly.
  • Contribute to and execute the branch business development plan to achieve or exceed a 10% annual revenue growth target.


Weekly Meeting Structure

  • Attend weekly Branch Manager meetings with the President.
  • Conduct a weekly Production Meeting with Account Managers and Operations Managers to review job progress and address any challenges.
  • Lead a weekly Sales Meeting with Account Managers and Business Developers to track opportunities and follow up on leads.


Budgeting & Reporting

  • Partner with the President and Controller to develop annual and monthly branch-specific budgets.
  • Review job costs weekly, taking proactive measures with Account Managers and Operations Managers to address any projects over or under budget.
  • Manage labor hours to 100%+ efficiency while meeting established gross margin goals. Develop weekly action plans to correct any budget variances.


Assets & Fleet

  • Work with the Fleet Manager and President to track branch assets, review fleet performance, and maintain equipment on proper service schedules.


Decision Making & Approval Parameters

  • Purchasing: Require President or Controller approval for purchases over $1,500.
  • Proposals: Require President approval for proposals over $100,000.
  • Personnel: For hiring or terminating Account Managers and Operations Managers, involve the President prior to final decision. The Branch Manager makes recommendations first.
  • Facilities: Participate in the annual capital improvements planning for each branch, aligning budgets and priorities with company objectives.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred: At least 5 years of experience as an Operations Manager or Account Manager within a Commercial Landscape Company
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English & Spanish


REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple work assignments simultaneously
  • Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., MS Office, scheduling/CRM tools)
