Job description

As a connection between Operations and Corporate Services, you will collaborate with stakeholders to identify and analyze opportunities for new investment and cost efficiency. You will interpret financial and operational reports and provide insights to our leaders – driving innovation. You will support the division in executing its growth plans and strategic investments. his role will be based in Edmonton and will support our Saskatchewan and Ottawa operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for driving financial analysis of projects, including the evaluation of revenue and work in progress- acts as financial advisor to Operations team
  • Identification of financial risks/opportunities and responsible for implementation of risk mitigating controls.
  • Anchor Cashflow projections for the business & build scenarios to help plan in advance for various financing opportunities.
  • Designated liaison with broader shared services group; distilling, filtering and translating operational requests and Shared Services responses.
  • Support Project Managers and Directors with the analysis of various operational reports, including variance analysis.
  • On a monthly basis provide variance analysis for actuals vs. budget and forecast, focus is on interpretation of the data & responsible for operational explanations.
  • Communicate and provide regular weekly reports to stakeholders.
  • Prepare various analysis as required by management.
  • Maintain and update various information systems and databases with project data.
  • Responsibility for the billing process.
  • Participate in the month-end and year-end close process for financial statements and certify all revenue is properly taken based on revenue recognition policy.
  • Act as Operations Controller & facilitate the annual budget and financial forecast process from operations perspective.
  • Verify and validate project opening and project modifications.
  • Ownership for the accounting information system and data connectors.
  • Facilitate training related to the accounting information system and other digital management tools.
  • Assist operational lead in conducting performance reviews for subordinates, participate in setting objectives and identifying staff training requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Please note the regions you support may be changed at anytime based on business need.

Success Metrics (Year one):

  • Establish disciplined financial guardrails and improve forecast reliability across both regions by maintaining rolling 13-month cash flow forecast, monitoring SSC/units under production & enforcing compliance with spec volume guardrails & financing capacity constraints.
  • Deliver timely, decision-grade reporting with actionable operational insight by ensuring100% on-time delivery of weekly sales/starts/closings reporting, provide clear variance interpretation and operational drivers for margin, volume, and cost shifts and identify actionable performance drivers with quantified impact.
  • Act as the financial lead for divisional operations with strong process control by ensuring 100% timely PSA financial reviews (≤1 week turnaround), lot data entered accurately in systems within 30 days of PSA, quarterly construction cost audits completed per delegation policy & regional site walkthroughs.
