Job description

Plant Controller
Our client is seeking a Plant Controller to oversee the financial operations of a growing manufacturing facility. Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for managing cost accounting, inventory controls, financial reporting, capital expenditure tracking, and process improvements.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Lead month-end and year-end accounting activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and management reporting
  • Monitor operating expenses, manufacturing costs, and budget performance while providing meaningful variance analysis
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting processes, including standard costing, BOM analysis, and production variance reporting
  • Analyze production costs, yields, waste, and throughput to identify opportunities for efficiency and margin improvement
  • Manage inventory accounting, valuation, cycle counts, and inventory control processes
  • Track capital projects, equipment investments, and related expenditures against approved budgets
  • Support reporting requirements for lenders, investors, and other stakeholders as needed
  • Establish and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and approval workflows
  • Support ERP and accounting system implementation, optimization, and reporting capabilities
  • Partner closely with operations, procurement, and production teams to translate operational performance into financial insights
Your strengths include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification
  • 5-10 years of experience in plant accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or controllership roles
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
  • Experience managing inventory valuation, working capital, and manufacturing reporting processes
  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP or manufacturing accounting systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build processes, controls, and financial structure within a growing operation
  • Experience supporting capital projects, equipment investments, and operational finance initiatives is considered an asset
  • Exposure to manufacturing, food production, consumer goods, or other production-based environments is preferred
  • Ability to speak Mandarin Chinese is considered an asset
