GigaGen, a subsidiary of Grifols, seeks a talented, highly motivated Operations Assistant to work alongside Scientists, Research Associates, and Operations Team. This on-site role will provide exposure to a pre-clinical biotechnology lab that specializes in deep sequencing, cell engineering, antibody therapeutics discovery, and a cutting-edge single cell microfluidic platform. The candidate must work independently as well as demonstrate flexibility and problem-solving abilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support shipping and receiving activities
  • Support new employee onboarding activities
  • Maintain and clean office appliances
  • Unpack and organize incoming packages
  • Perform invoice management of received goods
  • Serve as point of contact for delivery personnel and lab vendors
  • Update and maintain operational databases and systems
  • Assist with data documentation (scanning/printing)
  • Assist with inventory counts and maintenance of office and lab spaces
  • Perform daily stocking of office goods and weekly stocking of laboratory supplies
  • Assist with company events with set up and clean up
  • Support facility safety by maintaining fire extinguishers, eye wash stations and showers
  • Maintain records of equipment documentation
  • Support staff in organization activities
  • Assist in furniture and equipment moves
  • Perform general lab cleaning duties
  • Prepare and aliquot lab reagents
  • Support laboratory specialty gas systems and supply

Additional Responsibilities, Skills & Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years of relevant office or laboratory experience is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Capable of multi-tasking and following standard operating procedures
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Occupational Demands: Work is performed in a warehouse environment. Exposure to chemicals and to electrical manufacturing equipment and moving machinery. Exposure to high levels of noise. Occasional entry into confined spaces, requiring kneeling, crawling and squatting. Works at heights on scaffolding and/or on ladders. Operates forklifts, tractors and power equipment. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, safety shoes, gloves and hearing protection. May walk; stand, bend and twists waist for 2-4 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Frequent foot movement. Light to moderate lifting and carrying of 15-44lbs. for 2-4 hours per day. Heavy lifting and carrying of 45lbs.and over for 2-4 hours per day with a maximum lift of 75lbs. Hearing acuity essential. Depth perception and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Frequently performs simple and routine tasks that vary little each day by following a set of written or oral instructions/procedures. Maintains work pace to meet production standards.

The estimated pay scale for Operations Assistant role based in California, is $22.00 - $29.00 per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool.
