Job description

Sun Valley Resort isย seekingย an experienced and motivatedย Snowmaking Foremanย to lead daily snowmaking operations and support year-round maintenance of the snowmaking system on Bald and Dollar Mountains. This roleย is responsible forย supervising team members, ensuring safe and efficient operations, andย maintainingย system performance across both winter production and summer maintenance seasons. The Snowmaking Foreman works closely with Mountain Operations leadership to support high-quality snow surfaces and overall mountain readiness.

Duties & Responsibilities:ย ย 

  • Supervise daily snowmaking operations, including system start-up, shutdown, and production monitoringย 
  • Lead and support a team of snowmaking staff, providing direction, training, and ongoing coachingย 
  • Perform and oversee preventative maintenance and repairs on snowmaking equipment and infrastructureย 
  • Troubleshoot system issues during both winter operations and summer maintenanceย 
  • Monitor and manage inventory, tools, and equipment to ensure operational readinessย 
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of snowmaking facilities and work areasย 
  • Promote and enforce a safety-first culture in all aspects of workย 
  • Collaborate with Mountain Operations and other departments to support overall resort operationsย 
  • Assist Department Manager with hiring, scheduling, training, performance management, and employee developmentย 
  • Support planning efforts, including maintenance scheduling, project work, and operational improvementsย 
  • Attend department meetings andย assistย in communicating operational updatesย 
  • Performย additionalย duties as assignedย 

Qualifications:ย ย 

  • Valid U.S. driverโ€™s licenseย requiredย 
  • Previousย experience with automated snowmaking systems preferredย 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tools, equipment, and safe work practicesย 
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a mountain operations or similar environmentย 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and promoting safety initiativesย 
  • Ability to serve as a positive influence and role model for team membersย 
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and overnight shiftsย 
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skillsย 
  • Proficiencyย with basic computer systems, including Microsoft Office or similar programsย 
  • Engage in physical activities like standing forย long periods, walking, andย utilizingย hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reachingย 
  • Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds andย frequentlyย lift and/or move up to 50 poundsย
