Job description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a 24/7 plastic bag manufacturing facility. This role oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs while driving equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance technicians and contractors and works closely with Production, Quality, and Safety to achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate maintenance technicians and supervisors; foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Develop staffing plans and coordinate schedules to ensure adequate coverage for a 24/7 operation.
  • Manage comprehensive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and oversee equipment including bag converting machines, winders, slitters, compressors, chillers, air handling systems, electrical distribution, HVAC, material handling, and plant utilities.
  • Coordinate installation and commissioning of new equipment and ensure spare parts inventory is maintained.
  • Promote compliance with OSHA regulations, LOTO procedures, environmental permits, and contractor safety requirements.
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, control spending, and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Analyze maintenance KPIs including Downtime, MTBF, and MTTR.
  • Partner with Production and Engineering on planned maintenance, equipment upgrades, and automation projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience considered).
  • Minimum 7 years of industrial maintenance experience with at least 3 years in a maintenance leadership role.
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing, film extrusion, converting, packaging, or related environments strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing maintenance in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, project management, and budget management skills.

Work Environment

  • Based in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. May require flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and emergency failure response as needed.
