Description
Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to support a growing professional services organization. This role reports directly to financial leadership and plays a key part in maintaining and improving day to day accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings strong ownership, leadership capabilities, and experience supporting project based environments such as engineering, architecture, consulting, or technical services. Responsibilities include hands on leadership of payroll, financial reporting, work in progress, client invoicing, and other core accounting functions.
Responsibilities
Duties related to this position include but are not limited to:
• Manage Work in Progress reporting to ensure accurate project financial tracking, revenue recognition, and profitability analysis
• Support client invoicing with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contract requirements
• Assist with client and subconsultant contract management to ensure alignment with billing terms and company policies
• Monitor accounts receivable, support collection efforts, and collaborate with project managers and clients to facilitate timely payment
• Oversee and review payroll processing and related compliance activities
• Support preparation of financial reporting
• Assist with month end and year end closing activities
• Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen internal controls and enhance department efficiency
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities for accounting team members
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must Have:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience required - service-based revenue model accounting experience preferred
• Professional experience in engineering, architecture, legal, consulting, or a related professional services environment
• Demonstrated leadership experience with responsibility for staff supervision, coaching, and development
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Primarily Microsoft Excel)
• Experience with project management-based software is preferred
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
