Accounting Manager

As an Accounting Manager at The Arc of LaGrange County, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our organization. Our 501(c)3 non-profit serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in LaGrange County, and we are committed to providing quality services to our community.

Job Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial operations of The Arc of LaGrange County. These include, but not limited to maintenance of the general ledger, financial statement reporting, budget preparation, coordination of external audits, cash management, job and project costing, administration and supervision of accounts receivables, Medicaid, group home, and state billing, as well as all consumer and employee payroll with payroll related taxes. The role will direct, supervise, and provide quantitative information of financial data which is useful in making decisions for the management of the Organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs the activities of all accounting operations, including resolving problems, reviewing completed work and reports, and assuring that all fiscal responsibilities are maintained in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, ad policies.

  • Reviews and authorizes requests for purchase orders and payment of accounts payable. Servies as authorized check signer for the Organization.
    • Prepare and submit all required Federal, State, and Local Annual Reports and Returns on a timely basis.

  • Oversees and coordinates the payroll and benefit programs for all employees of the organization including the soliciting of bids and working with the contractors of those benefit programs, submitting all federal, state, and local payroll reports, and provide information to the Administrative Staff, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors as may be requested for evaluation of employee policies and procedures.

  • Direct/facilitate preparation of all financial statements and reports with interpretation for the Finance Committee, Board of Directors, Executive Staff, and other staff as needed.

  • Will administer over all of the appropriate insurance policies, the purchase order system, bidding of jobs for workshop, and the bidding of maintenance ad capital improvement projects for the Organization.

• Direct/facilitate supervision of all Financial Services and Information Technology services ensuring all objectives are accomplished in an effective and timely manner.

  • Reconciles and balances monthly statements of the various bank accounts, account receivable and payable subsidiary ledgers, and general ledger. Forecasts cash requirements and make recommendations on fund transfers from investment accounts as needed.

  • Prepares the organization's annual budget in consultation with Administrative Staff, Managerial Staff, and Finance Committee to present to the Borac of Directors for final adoption.

  • Direct/facilitate supervision of the Fund Raising and Development of the organization aiding in securing a source of revenue.

  • Will oversee and coordinate details for the annual audit as well as any other audits that are needed periodically.

  • Supervise, evaluate and manage the Finance Department employees to effectively meet the financial objectives of the total Organization.

  • Will attend Administrative meeting, Board of Director meetings, Finance meetings of the Organization and may be required to attend relative trade and association meetings as needed.

  • Performs related duties as assigned in the interest of the Organization and for the individuals that we serve.

Job Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 5+ years of experience in accounting
• Recommended experience or understanding of, but not required:

None-for-profit, Medicaid billing, Social Services employed
• Will abide by the Mission Statement, Quality Statement, and Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct Statement of the Organization in all they do.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
• Knowledge of financial software and systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel)
