California's Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) Program was initiated in 2013 to establish a comprehensive statewide EEW system. The Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) Division is charged with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the California Earthquake Early Warning System (CEEWS). California's EEW Program began in 2013 to implement a comprehensive state-wide EEW system in collaboration with stakeholders. The California EEW Program has realized a statewide system that provides critical seconds of warning prior to the strong shaking of an earthquake.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, and work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
