Surplus Store Coordinator – Hiring Immediately! 
 
Pay: $15.00/hour – Paid Weekly (eligible for a $0.50 increase after 60 days)
 
Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday

Position Summary:
The WMU Surplus Sales store is responsible for the disposition of all University assets by determining the proper disposal method of either re-use, repurpose or recycle. Duties involve participating in item pickups, receiving, storing, pricing, and organizing and merchandising of a variety of furniture, office supplies, materials, and equipment. Other duties also include maintaining accurate records and providing fanatical customer service.
 
Position Responsibilities: 
• Interacts with customers and communicates daily with Surplus Store Supervisor and on-site Operations Manager
• Assists with the organization, merchandising and cleanliness of the store to ensure a welcoming and professional appearance. 
• Assisting with item pickups throughout the WMU campus
• Process items and merchandise them in an organized way that customers can easily locate
• Ability to navigate Facebook traffic along with creative ways for advertising products
• Must be able to respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely fashion.
• Assists with the proper disposal and recycling of electronics with external vendor.
• Use of power tools, dollies, carts, and a power pallet jack.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Graduation from a standard high school; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience with power tools and general assembly of furniture is a plus
• Must be very organized and able to tackle projects as assigned in a timely manner
• Previous retail/ store experience is preferred
• Ability to manage high volumes in a fast-paced environment, comfortable with multi-tasking and handling numerous customers in tandem. 
• Knowledge in point of sales, cash register, and credit/debit card machine
• Knowledge of laws and policies relating to the disposal and disposition of university assets.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Possesses a valid driver’s license.
 
Physical Requirements: 
• Ability to carry and/or lift items up to or exceeding 50-100 pounds. 
• Ability to stand for more than 6 hours at a time, lifting, pushing, using stairs.
• Ability to drive to and from various sites outside the Surplus store.
