Job Description

The Program Manager, CSU Online, leads the planning, implementation, and growth of online and off-campus credit degree and certificate programs within an assigned college portfolio. This role is responsible for generating revenue by strategically expanding, enhancing, and maintaining credit-bearing programs delivered through CSU Online.

The Program Manager collaborates closely with faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders to develop high-quality, sustainable, and targeted offerings for distance learners and to advocate for learner needs and quality offerings. Success in this role requires deep understanding of CSU Goals, partner college goals, academic standards, and learner needs.

As a key representative of the CSU Learning Innovation Team and CSU Online, this position fosters strong internal and external relationships and exercises sound judgment to advance institutional goals. The role also oversees complex projects, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, as well as manages cross-functional teams to meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives.

Grounded in CSU's land-grant mission and aligned with the CSU Strategic Roadmap, the Division of Learning Innovation brings togetherexpertisein online and hybrid learning, professional and continuing education, lifelong learning, and educational design and production. Through units including CSU Online, Professional and Continuing Education, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), and Learning Innovation for Extension Programs, the division works in partnership with colleges, departments, and external organizations to design, build, launch, and scale high-quality learning experiences that serve learners across their lifetimes-from open learning and noncredit credentials to degree pathways and workforce-aligned programs.

The Division of Learning Innovation serves as a connector and integrator across the university, helping align strategy, systems, and partnerships to support a coherent and responsive learning ecosystem. By advancing portfolio visibility, pathway design, and scalable infrastructure, the division enables Colorado State University to reach new learners, support faculty innovation, and deliver on its commitment to access, excellence, and impact in a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

Essential Job Duties
  • Collaborate with CSU units to ideate and design programs that address specific challenges.
  • Integrate data and stakeholder feedback to ensure offerings are relevant and measurable.
  • Champion accessible design across all offerings.
  • Serve as a liaison todepartments and college portfolio contacts.
  • Monitor performance and relevance ofofferingsover time.
  • Contribute to institutional and unit-level planning processes.
Conditions of Employment
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).
  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; CSU Online will not sponsor a visa for this position.
Supervision

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in online/distance higher education innovation and management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading partnerships or initiatives across sectors (e.g., healthcare, technology, agriculture, energy, etc.).
  • Knowledge of CSU Online, Professional Education, Extension, or similar public engagement platforms.
  • Proven success influencing policy, investment, or programmatic direction in a strategic context.
