Accommodations Coordinator

Fuqua School of Business

Reports to: Director of Academic Integrity and Access

The Accommodations Coordinator (Prog. Coord., level 10) plays a critical role in supporting Fuqua's commitment to equitable access and integrity across all academic programs. Reporting to the Director of Academic Integrity and Access, the Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and day-to-day administration of academic accommodations for students in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Duke University policies. The coordinator manages the interactive accommodation process, facilitates timely implementation of approved accommodations, partners closely with faculty and program teams, and ensures accurate documentation and confidentiality. The role requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to balance student access with the integrity of Fuqua's rigorous academic standards.

What You'll Do

Administration of Academic ADA Accommodations

  • Serve as Fuqua's primary contact for academic accommodations across degree programs, including Daytime MBA, Accelerated MBA, Executive MBA, MMS, MQM, MSQM, and MBCS.
  • Partner with program leadership, faculty, and the Student Disability Access Office (SDAO) to facilitate approved accommodations in alignment with University policies and ADA requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute accommodation notifications and ensure timely communication with faculty and program staff.
  • Coordinate testing accommodations, including scheduling, proctor coordination, secure exam administration, and adherence to testing protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential accommodation records in accordance with FERPA, ADA, and institutional policies.
  • Monitor accommodation implementation and address concerns that arise throughout the academic experience.

Faculty and Program Collaboration

  • Partner with faculty, program offices, and academic operations teams to ensure consistent implementation of accommodations across in-person, hybrid, and online learning environments.
  • Provide guidance regarding accessibility practices while maintaining academic standards and program integrity.
  • Support effective resolution of accommodation-related concerns through proactive communication and partnership.

Student Support and Case Management

  • Provide individualized guidance regarding accommodation processes, expectations, and available resources.
  • Respond promptly to student concerns, questions, and accommodation-related requests.
  • Connect students with University resources, including the Student Disability Access Office and other support services, when appropriate.
  • Handle sensitive information with professionalism, empathy, discretion, and confidentiality.

Education and Outreach

  • Assist with the development and delivery of educational materials related to accommodations, accessibility, and inclusive practices.
  • Support new student orientations, faculty development sessions, and informational workshops.
  • Develop and maintain accessible online resources that clearly communicate accommodation procedures and expectations.
  • Promote awareness of accessibility best practices throughout the Fuqua community.

Process Improvement and General Support

  • Support the Director of Academic Integrity and Access in evaluating and enhancing accommodation policies, procedures, and operational practices.
  • Track accommodation activity and analyze trends to inform process improvements and service enhancements.
  • Stay informed regarding federal and state regulations, higher education guidance, and emerging best practices in disability services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Rehabilitation Services, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in disability services, ADA compliance, student services, or a related area within higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ADA, FERPA, and related regulations.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a business school, graduate school, or professional school environment.
  • Experience coordinating testing accommodations and examination logistics.
  • Familiarity with disability services software systems and learning management platforms.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $45,661.00 to USD $73,140.00.
