The Video Editor Associate works closely with the video production team, instructional designers, and multimedia designers in the post-production stage of course development to produce content-rich academic videos, as directed by the Postproduction Manager. They coordinate regularly with the Postproduction Manager on the status of their assigned courses.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of video editing principles, media management, effective communication strategies, and time management skills. A successful candidate should demonstrate a passion and commitment to excellence in educational media.
Education and Experience
  • BFA or BA in Cinema or related field (e.g., Editing/Post-Production); or three (3) or more years of video production experience in a professional environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition, and DaVinci Resolve.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of video and audio editing and color correction.
  • Basic technical knowledge of video codecs and transcoding for web delivery.
  • Knowledge of data management, equipment compatibility, and post-production workflow.
  • Understanding of basic computer network concepts, including cloud and server-based solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Preferred: Understanding of effective multimedia integration in teaching and learning.
  • Preferred: Post-production certification (Adobe Certified User, DaVinci Resolve Certified User, etc.).

Responsibilities
Post-Production Execution
  • Ingest, log, sync, and organize media; perform post-production project setup, editing, on-lining, archiving, delivery, and management of digital assets.
  • Assemble footage into string-outs, rough, fine, and final cuts while maintaining professional standards.
  • Receive and implement notes regarding the editing of projects based on content and input from producers, instructional designers, and faculty members.
  • Perform initial color correction passes and preliminary sound sweetening.
  • Compress, upload, and archive final videos; ensure quality control and consistency on final deliverables.
  • Archive and maintain records of master files, ensuring all footage is secured and backed up.

Collaboration and Review
  • Collaborate with instructional designers and the production team to understand and support online course goals.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders on video review; synthesize and address feedback received while adhering to organizational quality standards.

Graphics and Production Support
  • Provide graphics support utilizing Adobe After Effects and Creative Suite.
  • Assist with on-set production when needed.
