About the Role
 
Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking a skilled and versatile Assistant Audio and MIT Technician for the 2026 North American Touring production.
The Assistant Audio and MIT Technician supports the Head of Audio and MIT in maintaining the show’s sound systems, musician monitoring, and musical instruments across all venues. This hands-on role assists with system setup, mixing, playback operations, and instrument maintenance, ensuring consistent sound quality and creative integrity throughout the tour. The position also serves as the A2 for the department, stepping into leadership responsibilities as needed.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Sound & Instrument Support
-          Lead with setup, tuning, maintenance, and repair of all musical instruments and playback systems.
-          Operate the sound console for performances, rehearsals, and maintenance sessions as directed by the Head of Audio and MIT.
-          Monitor and maintain consistent in-ear mixes and playback systems to ensure performer comfort and safety.
-          Prepare and tune instruments used by the band before each performance; ensure proper function and placement during the show.
-          Execute show cues, sound checks, and system checks to verify readiness before each performance.
-          Assist in developing and maintaining system documentation, cue sheets, and patch lists.
-          Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues quickly to minimize performance impact.
 
Load-In, Load-Out & Touring Operations
-          Participate in all audio and instrument-related load-ins and loadouts.
-          Ensure safe and efficient transport, unpacking, and repacking of instruments, consoles, and cabling.
-          Assist with venue setups, adapting to varying acoustics and layouts while maintaining consistency of sound.
-          Support the Head of Audio and MIT in advancing and preparing equipment for upcoming cities.
 
Maintenance & Documentation
-          Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance for all sound and instrument systems.
-          Maintain accurate logs of maintenance, repairs, and inventory.
-          Assist with purchasing, tracking, and restocking of audio consumables and instrument supplies.
 
Safety & Collaboration
-          Champion and adhere to all Blue Man Group and CDSEG safety policies across all sound and instrument operations.
-          Ensure all audio and electrical systems are operated safely, including cable management, power distribution, and rigging practices.
-          Support safe sound levels for all performers, protecting hearing health and maintaining comfort.
-          Foster a collaborative, respectful environment that prioritizes communication and teamwork with performers, crew, and venue staff.

Qualifications
-          Minimum 2–3 years of experience in live sound engineering or instrument technology for theatre, concerts, or touring productions.
-          Working knowledge of digital mixing consoles, playback systems, microphones, and in-ear monitoring systems.
-          Working knowledge of instrument maintenance and tuning (percussion, string, and electronic).
-          Experience with audio networking, RF coordination, and power distribution preferred.
-          Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort working in fast-paced environments.
-          Touring experience preferred.
-          Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. safely, climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods.
-          Must be able to travel domestically for extended periods (Dec 2025–Jun 2026) and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel.
 
Compensation & Benefits
 
This is a full-time, exempt touring contract offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits during active tour periods.
