Overview
UnityPoint Health is seeking an Executive Director, Oncology Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for oncology services across the Central Iowa region, including the nationally recognized John Stoddard Cancer Center.
This executive leader will partner closely with the Medical Directors of Radiation Oncology and Surgical Oncology, along with system and market leadership teams, to advance clinical excellence, operational performance, patient experience, growth initiatives, and service line strategy. The role combines regional operational leadership with system-wide influence, serving as a key leader for oncology initiatives, operational projects, and educational efforts across UnityPoint Health.
The Executive Director will be responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and performance of oncology services while fostering strong physician partnerships, leading multidisciplinary teams, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring exceptional care delivery across the oncology continuum.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the oncology service line across UnityPoint Health.
  • Partner with physician leaders in a dyad leadership model to drive clinical, operational, and financial excellence.
  • Collaborate with system and market leadership to develop and execute oncology growth strategies and service line priorities.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of new programs, services, and care delivery models that enhance patient access and outcomes.
  • Establish and communicate a clear vision for the oncology service line while fostering alignment among key stakeholders.
  • Drive service line performance through data-informed decision making, operational improvement initiatives, and accountability for results.
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, productivity, revenue cycle awareness, reimbursement considerations, and variance management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, operational leaders, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead system-wide oncology operational meetings, committees, and multidisciplinary workgroups.
  • Serve as a key representative of the oncology service line both internally and externally

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience within an oncology service line, cancer program, or oncology-focused healthcare environment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience supporting hospital-based oncology services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic, operational, financial, and growth initiatives within a healthcare setting.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence leaders across complex healthcare organizations.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field.
  • Experience working within a physician dyad leadership model
  • Experience leading physician practice or ambulatory oncology operations.
  • Experience leading multi-site, regional, or system-wide oncology programs.
