Job description

Reservation Specialist

The Reservation Specialist is responsible for managing patient placement, throughput, and patient flow within the organization for admissions and transfers. Bed assignments are communicated to the originating and destination department via computer systems and telephone. In an effort to provide customer satisfaction, the Reservation Specialist accurately listens and responds appropriately to requests from patients, physicians, nursing departments, and co-workers. To ensure patients are assigned rooms in an expedient manner, the Reservation Specialist utilizes all critical resources within the organization to expedite this process. Reservation Specialist ensures paperwork and computer entry is checked for accuracy and continually enhances his or her knowledge regarding processes. Reservation Specialist gives high priority to customer service and customer satisfaction. Required to work weekends, holidays, and on-call as scheduled.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required: Education: High school/GED required. Post-secondary education desired. Experience: Medical office/secretary expedited preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude toward health care members and diverse patient population. Exhibits diplomacy and time management skills. Demonstrates efficiency and organizational skills with the ability to do more than one task at a time. Ability to use multi-line telephones. Computer skills required; Word and Excel preferred, and email. Medical terminology preferred.
