The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an Office Assistant to work at the Stateville NRC. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining files, preparing reports on incoming individuals in custody, and preparing/keyboarding transfer lists. In addition, this position will prepare/keyboard face sheets from court and mittimus papers for individuals in custody entering the Reception and Classification Center.

Essential Functions:

  • Establishes and maintains files.
  • Prepares reports on incoming individuals in custody which includes copies of their mittimus papers, statement of facts, face sheets and Federal Bureau of Investigation sheets.
  • Prepares and keyboards transfer lists prior to the transfer of individuals in custody from the center and those being picked up at other institutions.
  • Prepares and keyboards face sheets from court and mittimus papers for individuals in custody entering the Reception and Classification Center.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and one (1) year of related office experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 35 words per minute.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
