"

The Daisy Brand Machine Operator (Packaging Technician) position has the primary responsibility of product staging, machine set up, operating, cleaning, and sanitizing the filling machine. The operator will work in a team of 3-6 people who manage the filling and packaging of sour cream and cottage cheese to meet Daisy Brands inventory and customer needs. The duties will include coordinating with the Processing team to make ready cultured product for packaging, machine operation, and packing cases while moving finished goods to the Replenishment team. Job requires frequent bending, lifting, and twisting. The Packaging Technician is required to package Daisy Brand products per packaging requirements.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Set filling equipment up to allow for product introduction i.e., clean in place, sterilize, and product fill
  • Direct handling of packaging materials i.e., cups, foil, shippers, and etc.
  • Record material movement in inventory systems as appropriate
  • Stage product and packaging supplies to meet daily production schedule
  • Operate filling and packaging equipment, including weight control
  • Enforce food safety and quality assurance protocols as designated by Daisy Brand procedures
  • Operate box forming and packing equipment
  • Document and record production and quality information as necessary
  • Machine maintenance as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or G.E.D
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; maintenance-related background preferred
  • Attention to detail regarding machine operation, and outgoing package quality
  • Must be able to understand and follow all GMP and Safety requirements.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

SKILLS (EXPECTED):

  • Proven leadership ability
  • Analytical & applied problem solving (troubleshooting) skills
  • Familiarity with dairy and food plant operations
  • Familiarity with cultured dairy products, procedures, and equipment
  • Computer literate
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good personal organizational skills

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCES:

  • Packaging machine operation experience
  • 2 4 year degree is highly desired
  • Mechanical/electrical skills are desirable
  • Experience in food/dairy production environment is desirable
