Job description

Resident Director 12-Month

Position: The Resident Director works as a member of the Residence Life/Student Life team to foster student success, community development, and spiritual growth in our on-campus residential communities. The Resident Director lives on-campus in a designated staff apartment, and reports to the Director of Residence Life. This is a 12-month position beginning July 2026.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate community development within assigned residence hall(s) through intentional programming, relationship-building, and student engagement
  • Advise, support, and address student concerns, including making appropriate referrals to campus resources
  • Supervise, train, and lead student staff, including Resident Assistants and other student employees
  • Oversee daily operations of assigned residential areas, including facilities management, occupancy, and housing processes such as move-in and move-out
  • Maintain visibility and availability to residents, including regular office hours and consistent presence in the community
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to student situations and emergencies, including after-hours and weekend responsibilities
  • Assist with campus break coverage as needed
  • Promote an academically focused environment by upholding policies and encouraging student involvement
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support student success and well-being
  • Maintain accurate records and complete administrative responsibilities in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Schedule amp; Expectations:

  • This is a live-in position requiring residence in an on-campus apartment
  • Standard office hours are typically Monday through Friday during regular business hours, schedule a minimum of 10 office hours per week during regular business hours.
  • Evening and weekend work is required, including programming, meetings, and student engagement
  • Serve 2-3 weeks each semester as the Residence Life 24-hour On-Call attendant, monitoring and responding promptly to campus issues and emergencies after hours.
  • Must be available to respond to emergencies and campus needs both during and outside of scheduled hours

Qualifications:

  • Some college credit required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in Residence Life, student development, or related field preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Due to the nature of this role in a male residence hall, this position is limited to male applicants.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and respond effectively in high-pressure situations
  • Active member of a local church
