Job description

Job Purpose

The SATOP counselor provides harm reduction education, group therapy and individual counseling for clients enrolled in the State of Missouri Substance Awareness Traffic Offender Program (SATOP). This covers the following SATOP programs: Offender Management Unit assessment (OMU), Offender Education Program (OEP), Weekend Intervention Program (WIP), Clinical Intervention Program (CIP), and Serious and Repeat Offender Program (SROP).

Qualifications

  • SATOP Qualified Instructor (SQI) certification, with the intent to pursue additional credentials as required. MAADC II certification is required to facilitate OEP services only.
  • Certified Reciprocal Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CRADC) and SATOP Qualified Professional (SQP) with the required Educational Assessment credential.

Core Job Duties

SQP

  • Coordinate OMU assessment and enrollment in the appropriate SATOP level program.
  • Develop and execute engaging lesson plans for group education.
  • Complete treatment planning, functional assessments, updates, and discontinuations for clients enrolled in the SATOP program.
  • Coordinate OMU completions and SATOP equivalency.
  • Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
  • Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
  • Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
  • Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Group education and OEP classes only.
