What is an OEM product manager?

An OEM Product Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing products that are manufactured by one company (the Original Equipment Manufacturer, or OEM) and then marketed or sold by another company under its own brand name. They coordinate between the OEM and their own organization to ensure products meet quality, performance, and branding standards. Their role includes managing product development, collaborating with engineering and sales teams, and maintaining strong relationships with OEM partners. OEM Product Managers also analyze market trends, define product requirements, and help drive the success of OEM-branded products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OEM product manager?

To thrive as an OEM Product Manager, you need a strong background in product lifecycle management, market analysis, and business strategy, often supported by a degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
