Job description

A well-established international logistics and freight forwarding company is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Coordinator to join their team in Great Neck, NY. This is a full-time, in-office role ideal for professionals with a strong background in ocean freight operations, customs compliance, Cargo Wise and international logistics coordination.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate end-to-end ocean import shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery
  • Prepare and manage all documentation related to customs clearance and compliance
  • Utilize CargoWise to manage shipment data, bookings, and communication
  • Respond to client and agent inquiries regarding:
    • DDP terms, delivery timelines, and customs clearance
    • Duties, taxes, FDA codes, Lacey Act compliance, and HTS classifications
  • Communicate with customs brokers, carriers, and clients to facilitate a smooth import process
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and internal SOPs
  • Investigate and resolve shipment delays, documentation errors, or compliance issues

Requirements
  • 5-10 years of experience in ocean import coordination within the freight forwarding industry
  • Proficiency with CargoWise a MUST
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. customs compliance, duty payments, and regulatory documentation
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communicator with strong coordination skills across clients and carriers
  • Customs Broker License or IATA/IMDG certification is a plus, but not required
