An OB Tech, or Obstetric Technician, is a healthcare professional who assists nurses and doctors in labor and delivery units. They are responsible for preparing delivery rooms, maintaining sterile environments, assisting during childbirth procedures, and caring for newborns immediately after delivery. OB Techs also help with patient transport, equipment sterilization, and stocking supplies. They play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of labor and delivery departments and supporting both patients and medical staff.

What is an OB Tech?

An OB/GYN (obstetrics/gynecology) technician, or simply OB tech assists doctors, nurses, and midwives during labor and delivery. As an OB tech, your duties include preparing and cleaning the delivery room and assisting in procedures involved in birth. You may also be required to perform basic clerical work and update patient records. Your job is to assist the medical professionals present during a birth in whatever ways necessary.
