What are OAS?

OAS usually refers to the Old Age Security (OAS) pension, which is a monthly payment available to most Canadians aged 65 or older. It is designed to provide income support for seniors and is funded by the Government of Canada. Eligibility is based on age, legal status, and years of residency in Canada, not on employment history. The amount you receive may be adjusted based on your income and how long you've lived in Canada after the age of 18. You do not need to be retired to receive OAS, but your payments can be affected if your income exceeds certain thresholds.
