Summary of Position
The primary duty of the Land/Security is to patrol recreational, residential, commercial and industrial properties belonging to the Ounalashka Corporation to assure users are authorized and safety, regulatory and Corporation guidelines are being followed by users.
Essential Functions
  • Regularly patrol OC lands and facilities for trespass violations, abandoned property, pollution issues, damage, vandalism, and circumstance requiring management's attention.
  • Assist the leasing department with monitoring leased properties for lease compliance.
  • Coordinate with the OC Maintenance Department with installation of signage for roads and trails.
  • Monitor OC properties, buildings and leased properties for damage, security and compliance related issues.
  • Maintain a written daily patrol, mileage log, write reports, document issues as necessary.
  • Maintain a neat appearance and interact with the public in a professional and effective manner.
  • Work cooperatively with the City of Unalaska's Department of Public Safety as well as other government entities in performance of duties.
  • Coordinates activities that require access to OC Lands with other entities as needed.
  • Utilize technology like drones and cameras for additional lands surveillance.
  • Communicate safety issues to promote proactive safety planning.
  • Understand land use guidelines and recognize violations thereof.
  • Promote a positive image of the OC at all times, and maintain corporate confidentiality, including, without limitation, executing, delivering and performing Corporation's Standard Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Clean up OC property of debris and garbage when observed.

Knowledge, Ability and Skills
  • Work is performed often outside in various weather conditions that may require walking over difficult terrain.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule may include week-ends, holidays and evenings as required.
  • Knowledge of Ounalashka Corporation land holdings and tenant's is desirable.
  • Ability to operate various types of vehicles using proper safety standards and precautions.
  • Skilled driving ability as the position requires driving on various types of roads in all types of weather conditions.
  • Perform manual labor, including bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and lifting heavy objects; and the ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills, both written and oral, with staff and the public, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports; to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and carry up to thirty (30) pounds occasionally.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain and retain a valid Driver's License before starting work - possess and maintain a good driving record free of any DUI or other major driving convictions.

Experience and Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices.
