Job description

The Westbrook School Department School Nutrition Program seeks a School Nutrition Engagement Coordinator. Under the direct supervision of the School Nutrition Director, this position supports the school nutrition program through outreach to and engagement with students, families & the general public.
Responsibilities

Communications and Outreach
-Collaborate and act as a liaison with district staff and community members to promote childhood nutrition.
-Assist the director in collaborating with district nutrition initiatives.
-Coordinate graphic design, social media posts, and marketing for cafeterias and websites.
-Coordinate advisory groups.
Recipes, Menus, and Products
-Assist in recipe and menu planning including special menu items such as allergen free, plant based, and halal options.
-Identify and track locally grown/raised products.
-Identify new products and conduct taste tests.
Additional Tasks
-Assist with staff training.
ย -Lead classroom discussions about school food and the food system.
-Attend conferences, trainings, and webinars.
-Uphold districts policies and resolutions including those related to allergy awareness, wellness, equity and carbon neutrality.














Grant Management
-Write and submit grant proposals
-Establish and manage an operational plan and budget that meets grant guidelines and ensures timely expenditures.
-Communicate grant goals to principals, teachers, and school staff, students and parents.
-Establish partnerships with relevant group and organizations.
-Establish and follow proper procurement procedures.
-Process reports on time, retain records, and comply with all other paperwork and reporting requirements.





Travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required.

Qualifications

-ย  Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Communications, Marketing or relevant majors

-ย  Prior work experience in nutrition field for 1 year.

-ย  Prior experience working with diverse populations, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners desired
