As a Technology Team Leader at Caterpillar, you will work with the global BCP team to improve the efficiency of our PLM tools and processes (Teamcenter) and develop analytics solutions to improve our data-driven business. This position offers many opportunities to succeed and positively impact the work of engineering, supply chain, purchasing, manufacturing, and other groups. You will work with a large, diverse group of global team members in a successful business unit with a healthy portfolio of products. Much of your work will be self-directed, but you will have a supportive team in place to help and provide training and expertise. Daily, you will add value and solve problems, delivering results in both the short term and longer term to your customers. There are also stretch opportunities to enhance your skills by learning advanced data analytics tools and to contribute to AI initiatives
What will you do:
  • Act as BCP single point of contact for PLM

  • Anticipate and plan for future needs of the business unit, especially PLM changes requiring additional funding, training, testing, or integration with other systems

  • Work with the corporate PLM team and attend PLM meetings

  • As appropriate, set quality metrics for Teamcenter and work with the corporate PLM team to achieve those metrics

  • Prioritize and highlight the top PLM issues for our business unit and communicate to our leadership team. Work with end users directly to solve problems and address their concerns

  • Maintain standard work for PLM as required

  • Lead projects to prioritize and address the most important concerns from the product development teams and drive efficiency wherever possible

  • Collaborate with the larger analytics team to collect and report telematics data

  • Publish and author dashboards to enable BCP teams to more effectively develop our products or address customer concerns

  • Study how Teamcenter data analytics can help drive better decisions for NPI and CPI programs

  • Assist with validation of new versions of PLM software and act as voice of the business when evaluating these new software versions

What You Have (Core Skills)
  • Products and Services Knowledge: Working knowledge of how products, services, and supporting systems are developed, released, and supported within an engineering organization, including understanding linkages across functions and value chains.

  • Technical Excellence: Ability to apply sound technical judgment to solve technical and system-related challenges, engage appropriate subject matter experts, and develop solutions that balance business and technical considerations.

  • Team Collaboration and Facilitation: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and global teams, facilitate discussions on goals and responsibilities, and support teams through successful completion of projects and initiatives.

  • Requirements Analysis: Working knowledge of gathering, documenting, and managing business and system requirements, ensuring alignment between user needs, system capabilities, and business objectives.

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve technical and process issues by analyzing data, evaluating impacts, and applying structured problem-solving techniques.

  • Data Analysis and Decision Support: Experience using data and analytics to support informed decision-making, including organizing relevant information, assessing alternatives, and clearly communicating findings.

Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related fields or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with Teamcenter or another product lifecycle management (PLM) software

  • Understanding of Teamcenter's engineering drawing release process

  • Awareness of the roles of engineering and other teams in Teamcenter (design, configurator, CPPD collaborators, checking, releasing, change control)

  • Ability to work with many different disciplines such as engineering, purchasing, supply chain, and manufacturing

Top Candidates will also have:
  • Experience with Creo and electronic data systems (EDS)

  • Basic knowledge of data science and how it is used at Caterpillar

  • Knowledge of structure manager and bill of material (BOM) tools

  • Familiarity with Snowflake or other web-based data warehouses

  • Experience creating dashboards with PowerBI or Tableau

  • Experience with new product introduction (NPI) and current product improvement (CPI)

  • Basic knowledge of Caterpillar or other equipment manufacturers' products and how they are used by end customers, and an interest in those types of products

Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
