Job Description

Senior Manager, Site Supply Chain (Simsbury, CT)

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Site Supply Chain to lead all executional supply chain functions at our Simsbury, CT site. This role is responsible for delivering operational performance across procurement, materials planning, inventory control, and logistics, supporting both electronics and energetics programs.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Supply Chain, this leader will manage a team of managers and supervisors and operate within a matrixed organization, partnering closely with Category Management, Supplier Development, Quality, and Operations.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring material availability, supplier performance, and operational execution in a complex, highly regulated aerospace and defense Industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Organization

  • Lead and develop a multi-layered organization including Purchasing, Materials Planning, and Logistics managers and their teams
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Drive clarity of roles and alignment across a matrixed supply chain organization

Executional Supply Chain Ownership

  • Own site-level execution of procurement, planning, inventory, and logistics operations
  • Ensure seamless material flow from suppliers through production and to customer delivery
  • Balance competing priorities across development programs and production commitments

Procurement Execution & Supplier Performance

  • Oversee execution of procurement across $100M+ annual spend in low-volume/high-mix aerospace and defense programs
  • Partner with Category Leads and Supplier Development to align sourcing strategies with execution
  • Act as escalation point for supplier delivery, quality, and performance issues

Planning & Inventory Management

  • Lead demand and supply planning processes, ensuring alignment with production and program schedules
  • Drive improvements in forecast accuracy, inventory optimization, and material availability
  • Ensure strong inventory control processes, achieving high accuracy and efficient working capital management

Logistics & Material Flow

  • Oversee inbound/outbound logistics, warehousing, and material handling operations
  • Ensure safe and compliant handling of regulated materials (including energetics)
  • Optimize material flow, storage, and transportation efficiency

Cross-Functional & Matrix Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Category Management (sourcing strategy)
    • Supplier Development & SQE (supplier performance)
    • Quality & Compliance (regulatory adherence)
    • Operations & Engineering (program execution, NPI)
  • Influence without direct authority across functions to drive outcomes

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to FAR/DFAR, ITAR, AS9100, CPSR, DOT, IATA, ATF, and internal policies
  • Support audits and ensure procurement system integrity

Continuous Improvement & Transformation

  • Lead initiatives to improve OTD, cost, inventory turns, and process efficiency
  • Implement lean practices, visual management, and KPI-driven performance routines (e.g., Gemba walks, visual management)
  • Support site and enterprise-level transformation initiatives

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 10+ years of supply chain experience in aerospace & defense or regulated manufacturing
  • Proven experience managing managers (leader-of-leaders experience required) 5-7 years of experience
  • Strong background across procurement, planning, and logistics (end-to-end supply chain)
  • Experience operating in a matrixed organization

Preferred:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • CPSM, CPIM, PMP, or Lean/Six Sigma certification
  • Process Design, Problem solving & Lean tools
  • Experience with IFS or similar ERP systems
  • Experience supporting R&D to production transitions
  • Background in complex machining, electronics or energetics
