What is a No Experience Automation Engineer?

A No Experience Automation Engineer is typically an entry-level professional who is beginning a career in automation engineering without prior work experience in the field. These individuals may have relevant educational backgrounds, such as a degree in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, but are just starting to learn about automation systems, tools, and processes on the job. Their responsibilities often include assisting with the design, testing, and implementation of automated systems under the guidance of more experienced engineers. This role is designed to provide hands-on training and exposure to automation projects, helping new engineers build foundational skills. Companies may offer mentorship, training programs, or internships for those entering the field without experience.

What does an entry level automation engineer do?

An entry-level automation engineer designs, develops, and maintains automated testing and process systems using tools like scripting languages and automation frameworks. They analyze workflows, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with teams to improve efficiency and quality in software or manufacturing environments.

What onboarding and training opportunities are typically available for entry-level Automation Engineers with no prior experience?

For Automation Engineers starting with no prior experience, many organizations offer comprehensive onboarding programs that include mentorship, hands-on technical training, and exposure to automation tools and programming languages. Early tasks often involve shadowing senior engineers, assisting with test automation scripts, and learning industry best practices. This structured support helps new hires gain confidence and quickly build foundational skills, while regular feedback sessions ensure continuous learning and adaptation to the team’s workflow.

Will AI replace automation engineer?

AI is expected to augment the work of automation engineers by handling repetitive tasks and data analysis, but it is unlikely to fully replace the role. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a No Experience Automation Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a No Experience Automation Engineer, foundational knowledge in programming (such as Python or Java), problem-solving abilities, and a relevant degree in engineering or computer science are essential. Familiarity with automation tools like Selenium, Jenkins, or basic scripting, as well as a willingness to pursue certifications such as ISTQB or entry-level automation courses, is valuable. Strong analytical thinking, eagerness to learn, and effective communication set candidates apart in this entry-level role. These skills enable new automation engineers to quickly adapt, contribute to team projects, and develop robust automated solutions in a fast-evolving tech environment.
