Job description

Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA, a leader among the nation’s independent, two year colleges, has an immediate opening for a Womens Head  Volleyball Coach.  This is a part-time (seasonal) position.  This position is responsible for the direction, supervision and management of the college’s mens volleyball program under the policies and guidelines of the college and NJCAA. The successful candidate will have experience coaching volleyball and will be able to provide guidance and support to the team members. The coach will be responsible for developing and implementing training programs, organizing practices and games, and ensuring that the team is prepared for competition.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment of student athletes on a local, area, regional, state and national level;
  • Preparation and management of annual operating and scholarship budget;
  • Participation in fund-raising events and community relation's activities;
  • Monitoring student athletics in the volleyball program to support academic success;
  • Promotion of the volleyball program and athletics in general in the community;
  • Participation in the college's advising, recruiting and retention activities;
  • Coordinates travel arrangements;
  • Develop and implement training programs for the mens volleyball team;
  • Organize and lead practices and games;
  • Provide guidance and support to team members;
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance
  • Communicate with team members, parents, and other coaches;
  • Assists with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes and evaluating high school players and maintaining accurate records on the NJCAA’s Database
  • Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the College positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school, club coaches and the general public.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Candidate must have a commitment to following NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • An established record of successful experience in teaching and coaching volleyball;
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting student-athletes capable of succeeding academically and athletically; and
  • Proven ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with students, administration and community;
  • Knowledgeable of, and committed to following, NJCAA League rules, with emphasis on those involving recruiting.
  • Previous coaching or playing experience.
  • Previous athletic recruiting experience is encouraged/preferred.
  • Credentials should reflect proven success or potential in coaching, recruiting and in working with student-athletes.
