As an HMI (Human Machine Interface) operator in a manufacturing plant, your main role is to control and monitor the industrial and manufacturing processes in the plant or factory. You will be responsible for operating the HMI software to coordinate and control the machines and equipment used in the manufacturing processes.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Your tasks will include monitoring inputs and outputs of machines, tracking the performance of the manufacturing equipment, responding to alarms and other notifications, adjusting settings to optimize the machines' performance, and completing reports and logs of machine performance. In addition, HMI operators may work closely with other plant personnel, such as engineers and maintenance staff, to maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Operate HMI software to monitor and control the machines and equipment used in the manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor inputs and outputs of machines to ensure proper functioning and identify any abnormalities or issues.
  • Respond to alarms, notifications, and alerts in a timely manner and take appropriate action to address them.
  • Adjust system settings and parameters to optimize the performance of the machines and improve production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance staff, and other team members to troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve technical problems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of machine performance, production data, and maintenance activities.
  • Generate and review reports related to machine performance, production output, and quality control.
  • Perform routine inspections and checks to ensure that machines and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Stay updated on the latest technology, trends, and advancements in HMI systems and automation to enhance skills and knowledge.

The shift will be 6:30am-6:30pm based on a 3-2-2 work schedule.
This role reports to Nexus Circular's Plant Manager.
Education and Experience
As an HMI operator, it's essential to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and good communication skills. You need to be able to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and systems. Additionally, a background in electrical or mechanical systems and training in automation and control systems would be helpful.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in operating HMI software or similar control systems is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes and manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with electrical or mechanical systems is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts or rotational schedules, as required.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
