Summer Internship Program Overview

Cardinal Health’s Summer Internship Program is a structured 10-12 week experience designed for students who are eager to make an impact. As an intern, you’ll work on meaningful, business-critical projects that contribute to real outcomes while gaining exposure to the healthcare industry.

Program Highlights

Real-World Experience
Interns collaborate with Cardinal Health professionals, business partners, customers, and vendors on impactful projects and daily responsibilities. Each intern also serves on a planning committee to enhance leadership skills and concludes the summer by presenting their work to business leaders.

Job Description Summary

Location: Dublin, Ohio

Start Date: May 17 or 24, 2027

Hours: Approximately 40 hours a week for a minimum of 10 weeks

*Assistance with temporary housing is provided for students not local to the internship location.

As a Human Resources Intern, you could potentially support the organization in several of the following ways:

  • Assist the Human Resources function in delivering strategic initiatives and gain hands-on experience across HR
  • Gain exposure to HR processes, systems and people and increase understanding of the strategic role HR plays in the company
  • Identify workforce trends and provide relevant business insights, using data, tools, analytics and resources to drive decision making and action
  • Participate in projects such as process improvements, policy reviews or HR initiatives
  • Conduct research on current employment trends and best practices to inform policy and program development
  • Interpret HR data and trends to identify insights and provide strategic recommendations that support talent initiatives and business objectives

Qualifications

To be considered for the Cardinal Health Summer 2027 Internship Program, candidates should meet a combination of the following criteria:

  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, preferred
  • Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028, preferred
  • Prior internship or professional work experience, preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to approach problems with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn, ask thoughtful questions and seek out new information to deepen understanding
  • Proactive in seeking feedback, exploring new concepts and taking initiative in unfamiliar situations
  • Participation in extracurricular activities, community organizations and/or professional associations
  • Must have unlimited work authorization in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
