Job description

Under the direction of the Director of Technology the IT Systems Specialist II serves as the senior-level technical lead within the department providing both direct support and systems-level oversight across The Foundation for Hispanic Education. This role bridges the gap between entry-level support technicians and IT management. The Specialist is responsible for resolving complex support requests, managing district-wide platforms coordinating with departments and vendors and ensuring secure and reliable technology for students and staff. This position plays a key role in maintaining critical systems training users and implementing solutions that support instruction and operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for hardware software and networked devices including Chromebooks desktops laptops printers phones and audiovisual systems
  • Respond to help desk requests through TFHE's internal system One to One Plus ensuring timely documentation and resolution
  • Diagnose and repair common device issues including imaging and setup
  • Assist with deployment setup and replacement of student and staff devices including large-scale Chromebook rollouts
  • Systems and Platform Configuration
  • Configure maintain and support TFHE's core technology platforms including PowerSchool Google Admin Console Apple School Manager Mosyle and PaperCut
  • Manage user accounts system permissions and security settings across administrative and instructional systems
  • Implement updates patches and integration of tools in collaboration with other departments
  • Monitor systems and recommend improvements for stability and security
  • Data Privacy and Security
  • Support the protection of student and staff information by adhering to FERPA privacy best practices and district protocols
  • Assist in overseeing security controls such as access management monitoring tools and safe device use across all campuses
  • Coordinate with vendors and the Director of Technology on privacy agreements and technology-related compliance matters
  • Leadership and Coordination
  • Act as the primary technical lead under the Director of Technology supporting cross-departmental initiatives and communicating with school leaders
  • Provide training to staff and stakeholders on platforms devices and workflows as needed
  • Lead project execution including deployments migrations and school site implementations
  • Collaborate with outside vendors on repairs licenses and software issues

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support school operations which may occasionally extend beyond core technical responsibilities
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of project management principles including meeting deadlines coordinating logistics and balancing multiple requests

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field is required
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred and may substitute for some work experience
  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in IT support systems administration or educational technology
  • At least two years of hands-on experience managing or supporting PowerSchool or a similar Student Information System
  • Experience using G Suite for Education Google Admin Console Apple device management tools and network troubleshooting
  • Must be comfortable handling sensitive data in accordance with privacy laws and district policies
  • Ongoing professional development and certification attainment is expected during employment
  • Spanish language skills are not required but are considered a strong plus given the community TFHE serves

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:
  • CompTIA A Plus or Network Plus
  • Google IT Support Professional Certificate
  • Google Certified Educator Level 1 or 2
  • Apple or Microsoft technical certifications
  • CompTIA Security Plus or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience with Chromebook repair mobile device management and system integration tools is highly valued
