Job description

Work description:

Assist in redesigning the network in Morrisville, that today harbors three main elements: a) datacenter core operations, b) hosted customers – within the datacenter, and c) related labs traffic that flows is managed by the associated network.

We need to change the design of the network to a more robust proposed VLMS subnet model.  The goal is to create better isolation for teams who can run CVaR (conditional value-at-risk) protocols safely, wherein if not blocked, would create network wide impacts.  This involves network design changes, implementation of new DHCP and DNS services, that is already a part of the InfraOps domain.  Moving to this model should allow us to identify all traffic centrally, including mac/fqdn (fully qualified domain name) endpoints in our NCM, Netflow and related tools.  Once accomplished, we can then brownout (disable) an offending team’s port or entire switch/stack as well as create the proper registration process before allowing IP address usage.

Note: the design will need to consider T0/T1 connections into NSX before being routed out to the uplinked IT environment

Ideally, we need someone who has experience in the following:

  • Management experience of physical and virtual hardware and software across FLMS and VLMS subnets.  Preferred experience in configuring NSX and CISCO firewalls solutions desired.
  • The ability to configure CISCO switch (models – Catalyst 3650, 2960, 4500, and Nexxus 9300) plus firewall devices (3130)
  • VLAN, S-VLAN, C-VLAN, BGP, OSFP, STP understanding are required
  • Knowledge of virtual, hyperconverged and flex systems and network devices desired
  • Experience with Linux-based systems, administration, scripting, and automation frameworks – Ubuntu, CentOS, bash, python, Ansible, Terraform, vRealize/vROPS, etc. desired
  • Experience with Windows-based systems, administration, scripting, and automation frameworks, including Active Directory management & diagnostics, DNS, and clustering – batch, PowerShell, python, Ansible, Terraform, Chocolaty, Nuget, etc. desired
  • RCA (root cause analysis) skills as to diagnose and recommend course corrections.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into documented user stories, technical tasks, diagrams (sequence, use case, etc), and/or documentation.
  • Automation development such as the creation/maintenance of scripts that can be used with our orchestration software (OpManager, a ManageEngine product and or Site24x7.com, a zoho product).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and should be comfortable working in geographically dispersed teams
