Job Description C2's client, an independent New York-focused media planning and buying firm, seeks a Business Development Manager to help drive agency growth through strategic proposal development, media planning support, and relationship-driven new business efforts. Our client develops customized media strategies that help clients maximize their investment across an evolving media landscape. Following the acquisition of a creative agency, the firm is investing in growth, expanding capabilities, and refining internal processes to support a higher volume of new business opportunities without losing the collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that defines the team.

This role is built for someone who wants to grow alongside the business. The right person brings strong writing skills, media experience, strategic instincts, and the kind of professional presence that builds trust quickly with both prospective clients and internal teams. They pursue the right business, not every business, and understand the difference.

They are relationship-driven, highly organized, comfortable managing multiple active proposals at once, and energized by helping shape how the agency presents itself in competitive opportunities. Start Date: ASAP, ideally before the end of summer Duration: Direct Hire Location: Hybrid, 2 days/week in their new New York City office Compensation: $120,000 base + commission Technology: TBD Interview Process: Initial interview with the Chief Strategy Officer Second interview with the CEO Panel interview with the Chief Client Officer and additional members of the team Job Description The Business Development Manager supports agency leadership in pursuing and winning new business opportunities through proposal strategy, RFP development, media planning collaboration, and polished client-facing communication. This person will help shape media strategies and campaign recommendations for prospective clients, partnering closely with internal media, research, and leadership teams to build thoughtful, persuasive proposals grounded in audience, goals, available assets, and market opportunity.

The work is deadline-driven and highly collaborative, requiring someone who can move quickly without sacrificing quality, accuracy, or professionalism. Responsibilities: Support agency leadership in achieving company revenue growth goals by evaluating and qualifying new business opportunities with strategic intent Lead development and project management of proposals, RFP responses, presentations, and pitch materials, including drafting, editing, proofing, and refining all content to the highest standard Collaborate with media, research, and leadership teams to build campaign flowcharts, media plans, and strategic recommendations, ensuring alignment on audience, goals, budgets, and available research Track proposal activity and business development KPIs, including win/loss analysis, to measure effectiveness and continuously improve the process Leverage AI-assisted tools and turnkey workflows to increase submission volume and efficiency without sacrificing quality Attend networking events, conferences, and industry functions to support agency growth and relationship development Requirements: Background in business development, proposal strategy, media planning, account management, or agency marketing Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and presentation development skills Working understanding of media strategy, campaign planning, and integrated marketing concepts Experience contributing to the build of media plans and owning proposal strategy from the ground up Familiarity with DSPs and programmatic platforms (e.g., DV360, The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP) to inform and strengthen media strategy recommendations within proposals High EQ with the ability to build trust quickly across prospective clients, leadership, and internal teams Professional, personable, inquisitive, and comfortable representing the agency externally Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple deadlines simultaneously Familiarity with PowerPoint, proposal workflows, and AI-assisted productivity tools Comfortable with regular travel and enthusiastic participation in networking events and targeted industry conferences Nice to Have: Small to mid-sized agency experience Familiarity with business development or sales process best practices Government client experience Tourism or hospitality marketing exposure Media RFP or campaign strategy background Not your type of gig, but know someone who would be interested.
