Job Summary:
California State University, Los Angeles is seeking a Network Analyst II to join their Information Technology Services team. The role involves the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the university's wired and wireless networks, ensuring stability, availability, and security of critical network services that support various operations.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design, implement, operate, and maintain the University's enterprise-wide wired and wireless networks, firewalls, and telecommunication systems.
โ€ข Ensure the stability, availability, and security of critical network services that support academic, administrative, and research operations.
โ€ข Administer high availability firewalls and VPNs, monitor performance baselines, analyze security logs, and coordinate incident response with Information Security.
โ€ข Provide Level 2 escalation support, develop documentation and runbooks to ensure audit readiness, and participate in lifecycle planning for network equipment and services.
โ€ข Contribute to the design of secure and scalable architectures, evaluate emerging technologies, and partner with campus stakeholders and CSU systemwide groups to ensure alignment with industry standards and institutional objectives.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Equivalent to a bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or other related field and two years of experience.
โ€ข Experience working with evolving network and engineering changes applicable to a campus environment.
โ€ข Knowledge and experience in enterprise network environments with core and edge switching platforms, VPN concentrators, and multi-vendor firewall solutions.
โ€ข Knowledge and experience with network protocols including Ethernet LANs, TCP /IP network protocols, SNMP, and routing and switching protocols, including systematic troubleshooting procedures.
โ€ข Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing information technology and information security, including the ability to apply these laws and regulations.
โ€ข Working knowledge and experience with network monitoring products including NMS.
โ€ข Working knowledge of system backup and restoration processes.
โ€ข Knowledge of and experience with network security measures, strategies, tactics, and systems concerning hardware and software.
โ€ข Knowledge of wireless network hardware and software products.
โ€ข Knowledge of an enterprise network with VPNs.
โ€ข Good organizational skills and analytical skills, including the ability to respond to problems, prioritize actions, and quickly initiate corrective action.
โ€ข Good verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
โ€ข Proven ability to work well independently and in a team environment and monitor many service aspects simultaneously without loss of data integrity or security.
โ€ข Ability to compile meaningful statistical information and reach valid conclusions about trends.
โ€ข Ability to take initiative and be self-directed.
โ€ข Ability to lead and train other ITS staff and learn new concepts quickly.
โ€ข Demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
