TMB has an exciting opportunity as an Information Technology (IT)/Cyber Security Intern to prepare you to become part of a highly skilled workforce to create a career pathway in the U.S. Navy IT/Cyber Security competency.

Our Internship Program offers a training strategy that prepares individuals with skills to compete in today’s economy. During the 9–12 week Internship, Interns follow a training curriculum and are assigned with an IT, Cyber Security, and Security Competency Lead for three rotations within the Information Management & Security (IM&S) Directorate in Team Ships.

The Competency Lead will be instrumental in providing their firsthand knowledge and experience, give hands on training and experience of what IM&S Analysts do for the Navy, and act as a sounding board relating to career goals and development in becoming an IT/Cyber Security Analyst.

The internship is two parts:

  • 9-week Internship starting Summer of 2026,
  • 1-3 weeks (weeks 10-12): return during School Winter Break, December 2026 – January 2027

The primary goal of the Internship program is to provide a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience for the intern by exposing them to various facets of the Team Ships organization’s IT, Cybersecurity, and Security functions as it pertains to how the Navy and DoD does business

Responsibilities

  • The Intern shall provide on-demand timely professional support services to the U.S. Navy IM&S Directorate within Team Ships at the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in Washington, DC, during a 9-week internship starting Summer of 2026, and return during school Winter Break December 2026 – January 2027.
  • The Intern will be exposed to Team Ships IM&S, learn IM&S competencies, and develops skill sets that will provide value to the program offices and contribute to the workforce.
  • IT: Exposure to various IT systems, infrastructure, and support functions within the Navy. Collaborate with IT professionals to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Participate in ongoing projects related to system upgrades and maintenance.
  • Cyber Security: Gain insights into the organization's cybersecurity policies and procedures as it pertains to the Risk Management Framework.
  • Assist the cybersecurity team in monitoring and analyzing security incidents with respect to the Defense Industrial Base.
  • Engage in vulnerability assessments and learn about threat detection and prevention.
  • Security: Learn about physical security measures and protocols employed at NAVSEA and within Team Ships. Assist in conducting security assessments of facilities and premises.
  • Collaborate with the security team to enhance overall safety and emergency response procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma by May 2026 (some college preferred) • Pursuing a degree in an area related to Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science preferred

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • MS Suite Skills – Specifically Power Point, Word, and Excel Proactive and excellent customer service
