Overview
SUMMER 2027
Shure offers a challenging, fun, and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who are asked to relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.
The Unified Communications Technology Intern will work closely with Product Development and Product Management to evaluate different technologies in current products, assess strengths and weakness of key technologies, and creates proof of concepts for the next generation products and platforms. The intern will create automated scripts, as well as design and implement experiments for evaluating technologies. Experience working with audio/video technologies, live sound, podcasting, and audio conferencing is a plus.
This Internship is 100% Onsite, based in Skokie, IL.
Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a cross-functional development team to evaluate performance of various technologies of unified communications and integrated systems products.
  • Closely collaborate with Audio DSP software, Video technologies, Audio hardware engineers, and Product Management to define and execute various technology evaluations.
  • Create prototypes enabling various technology features and create demonstrations with stakeholders.
  • Support integration of these technologies into current and future products.
  • Use scripting tools to automate tests where possible.
  • Report and document any product issues discovered in the testing process.
  • Estimate, organize, and document tasks.
  • Communicate technical topics both verbally and in written form.
  • Manage time efficiently to support project teams.

Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Audio, Video, Music Technology, AI or Engineering.
  • Interest in, and/or experience with professional A/V conferencing products.
  • Experience with A/V networking or IT networking is highly desirable.
  • Experience with programming languages C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python or Matlab is required.
  • Passion for learning new technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

Each internship has an hourly rate which varies from $23-$43 per hour based on job function (Engineering, IT, Business, etc) and year completed in school (Junior, Masters 2nd year, PHD, etc).
