Position Summary

The Multimedia Senior Associate is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and producing original multimedia content that advances the organizationโ€™s digital communications strategy. Working closely with the Communications Director, this role applies strong creative judgment within established brand and creative direction to develop visual storytelling across video, web, social media, as well as in print and presentations. This position translates creative direction into compelling visual assets for global campaigns, trainings, and communications initiatives.


Currently reporting to the Communications Director, this position has no direct reports, and executes projects with a high degree of ownership, guided by creative direction and project briefs and may provide guidance or technical expertise to colleagues on multimedia design and visual storytelling.


This is a full time, exempt, benefits-eligible, hybrid position. The Climate Reality Project offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with staff working from our office in downtown Washington, DC at least two days per week to enable and encourage collaboration within and among teams. The salary range for the position is $72,000 - $73,440.


This position is within a union-represented collective bargaining unit, and specific terms and conditions of employment will be subject to a collective bargaining agreement between Climate Reality and the union.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Translate creative direction and strategic goals from the Communications Director into fresh, on-brand visual assets, recognizable content series, and functional design systems.
  • Produce and edit videos for course modules (long-form), social media (short-form), website (both), and other organizational needs while applying artistic talent and creative expertise to develop compelling narratives and a visually strong final product.
  • Design and produce original graphics across digital and print mediums โ€” including pitch decks, email content, social media, web page elements, and print โ€” while applying artistic talent and creative expertise to develop compelling narratives and visual experiences.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple creative projects simultaneously, prioritizing work based on strategic communications goals while maintaining high standards of artistic quality and brand alignment.
  • Manages day to day production independently, with strategic direction from Communications Director, from concept development through final delivery, exercising judgment regarding visual style, narrative structure, and production methods.
  • Contribute to the consistency and evolution of the organizationโ€™s visual identity across platforms.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our operations and enrichment of our culture, for example by serving on ad hoc or ongoing working groups, assisting with the onboarding and training of colleagues, and participating in efforts to assess, refine, and strengthen our culture and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • A portfolio that reflects strong visual judgment, creativity, vision, and attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in Canva.
  • Skills in at least two of the following software: Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, CapCut, Instagram reels.
  • Ability to work within and elevate established brand systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to embrace feedback constructively and apply thoughtfully and efficiently.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer required.
  • Ability to occasionally travel domestically and internationally for Climate Reality events and trainings.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degreeโ€”or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 3+ years of experience in a multimedia design and/or video-editing role (in-house, agency, or freelance).
  • Experience designing for digital-first environments and multi-channel campaigns.
  • Experience designing across a broad range of materials (digital, print, merchandise, events) and informing video production and/or photography.
  • Experience with managing Canva Teams and building Canva templates for scalable, distributed use highly desired.
  • An understanding of the type of visuals that โ€œstop the scrollโ€ on social media.
  • Familiarity with project management systems helpful; Climate Reality uses Wrike.
