Job description

The Vice President, Advisor Marketing is responsible for defining and leading the enterprise strategy that enables Thrivent advisors to grow their practices through modern, scalable, and differentiated marketing. This leader serves as the executive responsible for transforming advisor marketing by setting the strategy, evolving the team and service models in support of the strategy, operating within Thrivent's Product Operating Model, and delivering integrated marketing solutions that improve the advisor experience while driving business growth.
As a key member of the Brand & Integrated Marketing leadership team, this Vice President partners closely with Distribution, Marketing, Product, Technology and enterprise stakeholders to ensure advisors have seamless access to marketing capabilities, tools, content, and services. The Vice President leads a modern internal agency that partners with advisors to grow their practices by delivering strategic marketing expertise, scalable capabilities, and exceptional service. Through strong partnerships with Distribution and cross-functional teams, this leader continuously evolves the advisor experience to ensure marketing solutions are innovative, measurable, and aligned with business priorities.
This leader provides executive oversight for the Advisor Marketing teams and service model, Advertising Compliance, and Multicultural Marketing, ensuring these capabilities work together to deliver compliant, inclusive, and high-quality experiences that strengthen advisor engagement and accelerate growth.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advisor Marketing Transformation & Alignment
  • Develop and execute the long-term vision and strategy for Advisor Marketing, aligning capabilities to enterprise growth objectives and evolving advisor needs.
  • Lead the transformation of advisor marketing by modernizing the advisor service model and partnering with the Advisor Marketing Product team on delivery of experience and capabilities.
  • Champion a best-in-class advisor marketing experience by simplifying how advisors access marketing support and creating scalable, customer-centric solutions across the advisor lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, effectiveness, advisor satisfaction, and measurable business outcomes.

Advisor Experience & Marketing Enablement
  • Define the enterprise Advisor Marketing service model, ensuring advisors across all segments receive the appropriate mix of strategic support, self-service capabilities, education/training, and marketing solutions.
  • Serve as the executive voice of the field within Marketing, bringing advisor insights into enterprise planning and ensuring marketing investments align with advisor and client needs.
  • Partner with Distribution and Field leadership to strengthen advisor adoption of marketing programs, campaigns, tools, and capabilities that drive practice growth and client acquisition.
  • Oversee advisor marketing training, communications and change management efforts that improve awareness, utilization, and satisfaction with marketing capabilities.

Advertising Compliance
  • Own and hold accountability for the policy, easy-to-use policy guide, and review process that delivers on the business need for advisors to be able to quickly and easily market themselves without review in most cases, and in cases where review is needed, said review is prompt, efficient, clear and consistent.
  • Provide executive leadership for Advertising Compliance, driving modernization of review processes and governance while balancing speed, risk management, and exceptional advisor service.
  • Lead the evolution of compliance operations through process optimization, technology enablement, governance, and partnership with Legal and Risk functions.

Multicultural Marketing
  • Provide strategic leadership for Multicultural Marketing, ensuring inclusive marketing strategies, proper translation, culturally relevant content, and advisor enablement that supports Thrivent's growth across diverse communities.
  • Partner with Distribution and Field leadership to ensure Multicultural Marketing efforts are tied to Distribution priorities and are aligned to growth markets.

Leadership & Enterprise Partnership
  • Build and lead a high-performing leadership team focused on strong execution, innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish strong partnerships across Distribution, Marketing, Technology, Legal and executive leadership to influence enterprise priorities and remove organizational barriers.
  • Develop organizational capabilities, talent, and succession plans that position Advisor Marketing for future growth and evolving business needs.
  • Promote a culture grounded in Thrivent's purpose and values while fostering engagement, inclusion, and operational excellence.
  • Provide strategic influencing and expert change management skills, drive operational efficiency, and demonstrate impact across the organization. Ensure regular, clear, and priority aligned communication and accountability.

Additional Information:
* This role can be remote within the United States
The Vice President will interact with all levels of leaders, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders across Thrivent. The Vice President may represent the overall organization and persuade key decision makers ensuring alignment with Thrivent's strategies and goals.
The Vice President will regularly communicate with all Brand & Integrated Marketing leaders as well as the greater Communications and Marketing, Distribution, and GCO leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • College degree, advanced degree or MBA in marketing preferred.
  • 15-20 years of professional marketing, advertising, and/or communications experience, preferable in the financial services industry and/or agency environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, execute and measure marketing strategies that contribute to the overall growth trajectory of an organization.
  • Experience in driving sales enablement through multi-distribution channels with multiple products.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated environment with understanding of Compliance function.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence a broad group of stakeholders and senior leaders, often without direct authority or span of control, team-oriented consensus builder who understands how to achieve buy-in from different leaders, builds bridges and designs "win-win" solutions across a large, matrixed organization.
  • A strategic thought partner, this leader must demonstrate critical thinking, excellent judgement, and courageous leadership.
  • Experience navigating complex and matrixed organizations to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams and cultivate a leadership following within an organization.
  • Business Literacy: Awareness and understanding of implications of economic variables on corporate financial success factors.
  • Highly creative, strategic thinker.
  • Strong relationship building, managing through influence, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to think creatively about prospect and client needs and identify new and innovative ways to meet those needs. Deliver unanticipated results that exceed expectations, reframe questions, challenge assumptions, topple orthodoxy and disrupt the status quo.

Pay Transparency

We accomplish this by offering a wide variety of market competitive compensation programs to attract, reward, and retain top talent. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $235,710.00 - $353,564.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
