Job description

Are you a high-energy multi-unit leader ready to drive operational excellence across multiple SONIC Drive-In locations? We are seeking an experienced Area Director/District Supervisor to oversee daily operations, build elite management teams, and deliver top-tier profitability and guest satisfaction.

As a SONIC Drive-In restaurant Area Director/District Supervisor, you are indeed a general—leading your troops in a never-ending campaign to give America an infinitely more delicious food service experience. You will be involved in training and supporting drive-in restaurant employees, ensuring that food is delivered in a clean, safe and efficient manner and our customers have an excellent experience. 

Essential Area Director/District Supervisor job duties are listed below:

  • Lead Operations: Oversee 5-10 SONIC Drive-In locations, driving operational standards, sales, growth, and P&L efficiency.
  • Develop Talent: Coach, Mentor, and train General Managers to build strong, high-performing drive-in teams.
  • Drive in Quality: Ensure every location delivers fast, friendly service and fresh food while maintaining strict food safety guidelines.
  • Control Costs: Optimize labor, inventory, and operational expenses to hit aggressive financial targets.
  • Adheres to and monitors all employee compliance of the drive-in employee handbook, policies and practices
  • Reinforces a customer service mentality and ensures all employees are focused on serving the customer at all times. 
  • Interview and hire General Managers, management teams, and restaurant crew to achieve proper staffing levels.
  • Prepare all necessary operational reports. Develop appropriate action plans to resolve unfavorable financial and/or sales trends.

Requirements:

Additional General Manager Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Advanced studies in business, restaurant management or related fields are preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of multi-unit quick-service restaurant (QSR) management experience.
  • Proven track record of managing profit and loss (P&L) statements and scaling store revenue.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and selection practices
  • Basic accounting and computer skills
  • Problem solving, decision-making and conflict-resolution skills
  • Willingness to abide by the appearance, uniform and hygiene standards at SONIC
