What is a mulligan?

A Mulligan is a term used in both card games and golf to describe a do-over or a second chance after a poor first attempt. In golf, a Mulligan allows a player to replay a shot without penalty, usually in casual play and not in official tournaments. In card games, particularly trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, a Mulligan lets players redraw their opening hand if they're unsatisfied with their initial cards. The use of Mulligans is meant to encourage fairness and fun, but the rules for when and how they can be used vary depending on the game and setting.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and skilled Physical Therapist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital role in our mission by delivering evidence-based physical therapy services to a diverse patient population with a range of orthopedic conditions.

Our patient base primarily includes working-age individuals-from young adults through their late 60s and early 70s-many of whom qualify for Medicaid but lack employer-sponsored coverage. While we also care for teens, children (ages 9+), and older adults, these populations are seen less frequently.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of our patients and to grow professionally within a supportive and forward-thinking organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations, including goniometry, manual muscle testing, and functional assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
  • Utilize a wide range of therapeutic techniques, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy (Graston, Dry Needling, MDT, Mulligan), and modalities to reduce pain and improve function.
  • Educate patients on their conditions, treatment goals, and injury prevention strategies to support long-term recovery.
  • Document treatment progress accurately using Epic Hyperspace, our integrated EMR system.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless, patient-centered care.
  • Supervise a dedicated 1:1 Physical Therapist to PTA ratio, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Pursue continuing education and professional development in advanced PT techniques, including upcoming services like Blood Flow Restriction Therapy.

Requirements

Required:

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in the state of Illinois
  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program (DPT preferred)

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience in orthopedic settings
  • Board certification in Orthopedics or Sports Medicine
  • Experience working with athletes and/or post-surgical patients
  • Proficiency with Epic Hyperspace EMR
  • Strong manual therapy skills, including (but not limited to) Graston, Dry Needling, MDT, and Mulligan techniques

Benefits

We offer:

  • A competitive base salary aligned with the Chicago market
  • A performance-based bonus structure to reward excellence and results
  • Ongoing opportunities for professional growth as we expand across the Chicagoland area
