Major Functions:
The MTSS Lead Teacher strengthens academic and behavioral support by coordinating and facilitating a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) across grade levels. This role provides targeted guidance and collaboration with staff to ensure effective implementation of tiered interventions that address diverse student needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and facilitate implementation of academic and behavioral MTSS practices.
  • Support teachers in implementing a three-tiered instructional and behavioral model in core and support classrooms.
  • Provide staff with research-based, tiered instructional and behavioral strategies and support fidelity of implementation.
  • Address and support the response to discipline referrals through data-driven practices.
  • Research and recommend intervention practices that address a wide range of academic and behavioral deficits.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the MTSS framework and effective intervention practices aligned within that framework.
  • Remain current on research, best practices, and state guidance through professional reading, training, and workshop participation.
  • Perform additional duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or supervisor.
  • Adhere to the Mississippi Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all DeSoto County Schools records.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Valid Mississippi teaching license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Administrator License preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with general education instruction and MTSS interventions.
