JOB TITLE:
MSW ProgramDirector- Division of Social Work
JOB PURPOSE:
The Division of Social Work at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a Master of Social Work (MSW) Program Director position at the rank of Associate Professor, with a preferred start date of August 2026. The MSW Program Director is a 9-month, full-time tenure-track position with an additional month dedicated to administration during the summer term. In addition to .50 FTE dedicated to administrative leadership of the MSW Program and instruction, the successful candidate will engage in teaching, research/scholarship, profession-related community engagement, and service to the Division, University, and profession.
This is an on-campus position based in Laramie, Wyoming. The MSW Program Director is expected to be regularly available on campus and to teach in person during scheduled intensive weekend sessions each semester, as well as during evening classes (delivered via Zoom). Candidates must be willing and able to teach on evenings, weekdays, and scheduled intensive weekends as assigned.
The Division of Social Work offers a Generalist BSW program and an Advanced Generalist MSW program enrolling approximately 50 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The MSW program offers a hybrid format that combines online evening classes (via Zoom) with five intensive in-person weekend sessions per semester.The Division offers a full-time MSW program on the main campus in Laramie, Wyoming, and a part-time MSW program at the UW-Casper campus in central Wyoming. The Division is committed to scholarship, education, and practice grounded in the principles and values of human rights and human dignity.
We are looking for candidates with social work practice, teaching, research, and administrative experience who can advance our commitment to socially just practice and uphold our tradition of excellence in educating new social workers. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy, social justice, and engaged learning and have distance teaching and course development experience. Additionally, experience working in rural settings and evidence of strong interpersonal skills are highly valued.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to, MSW Program administration, including student recruitment, admission, and advisement; curriculum leadership; teaching a range of MSW classes across curricula; scholarship; and University and community service. Teaching responsibilities include evening and scheduled intensive weekend classes. The position requires travel within the state, primarily to the UW-Casper campus, and teaching using distance delivery systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned Ph.D. in social work or a closely related field.
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Five years of post-MSW practice experience
  • Evidence of leadership experiences
  • Strong record of research to warrant appointment at the associate rank
  • Record of teaching in a social work program
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.
  • Ability and willingness to teach during evening classes and scheduled intensive weekend sessions

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Record of teaching in an MSW Program
  • Experience in a generalist/advanced generalist social work program
  • Prior academic administrative experience at the university level
  • Experience with online teaching and/or distance education programs
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and processes.
