Job description

Toyota Racing Development (TRD) is seeking a highly motivated Technical Manual Machinist to join our team. We are dedicated to advancing automotive engineering and maximizing racetrack performance, and this role is integral to our pursuit of becoming the most respected motorsports engineering organization.

This is a 12-month contract position based on-site at TRD's Costa Mesa, CA facility. This is a first shift role with hours of 6:00 AM โ€“ 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime as required.

Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Review drawings and work instructions to fully understand job specifications and output requirements.

โ€ข Plan the sequence of necessary actions for job completion in coordination with facility planners.

โ€ข Take precise measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.

โ€ข Select appropriate machines (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders) and position or load material for each job.

โ€ข Select tools and cutting conditions, and generate and maintain programs as required.

โ€ข Define and manufacture tooling fixtures and jigs required to produce parts to specification.

โ€ข Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and coordinate confirmation with Quality Control.

โ€ข Perform routine machine maintenance and address minor damages, or coordinate with the maintenance department as needed.

โ€ข Operate all machines safely and in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have:

โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent.

โ€ข Minimum 5 years of experience in a manual machine shop or tool room environment.

โ€ข Ability to read blueprints and work instructions in English.

โ€ข Proficiency with a full range of precision measuring devices to verify the quality of manufactured components.

โ€ข Hands-on experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, and related machine shop equipment.

Physical Requirements

โ€ข Standing frequently or intermittently, up to 8 hours per day.

โ€ข Walking occasionally or intermittently, up to 8 hours per day.

โ€ข Sitting occasionally or intermittently throughout the shift.

โ€ข Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs occasionally or intermittently.

โ€ข Pushing and pulling between 50โ€“100 lbs occasionally or intermittently.

This is an on-site role based at TRD's Costa Mesa, CA facility
